About Phil

After leaving Loughborough University in 2002 with a degree in Sport Science, Phil spent the early part of his coaching career in numerous accredited and funded Performance coaching programmes. In this time he coached at the High Performance Centre at Nottingham and the International High Performance Centre at Loughborough University. Within these programmes Phil worked with several National Champions and players highly ranked in Tennis Europe and ITF junior rankings. As well as working day in day out with players from U8 to U18 he was often in charge of planning and integrating the coaching team delivery with the input from Strength & Conditioning coaches as well as Sports Psychologists.

Phil has just finished a period of just over 8 years working for the LTA. During this time he held various roles that involved delivering Regional Training, Regional & National Camps/trips, coach support/education, competition support and the development of coach workshops. For the last 2 years he has been the Head Coach of the Regional Player Development Centre based at the Nottingham Tennis Centre, a funded programme for Nationally listed players between the ages of 10-14.

He now splits his time between coaching players aged 14-18 within the full-time programme at Project 10 (based at Nottingham Trent University), coaching younger players from Mini Tennis to 14U and supporting coaches through the services and resources offered here.
